Athletics Round Up
Rusty Anderson

The Southmoore Sabercats football team successfully conquered the 1st round of playoffs in Ponca City last week. Bob Hurley RV named their Athlete of the Week, Tylenn Diggs! The Southmoore running back had 35 carries for 241 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Sabercats to their first playoff win since 2009. Great job, gentlemen!

The Cats take on Stillwater tomorrow in the quarter-finals! Good luck, SHS!

Freshman Lions REMAIN UNBEATEN after securing the X-Bowl trophy in spectacular fashion, retaking the lead with just 11 seconds left on the clock! 31-28. Great job, gentlemen!

Moore Public Schools is proud of 2021 Southmoore grad Cam Little on making NFL history yesterday - and for the way he composes himself on such a large stage each and every week!

If you are not familiar with what an incredible young man Cam is, watch the interview below, posted by his team, the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Well done, #39!

HUGE Congratulations to the 2025 Smokey Holland Bowl City Champions!

Recently, Brink's 8th-grade Bobcats beat Highland East 20-6, and the Highland East 7th-grade Cougars beat Brink 12-0! Way to go, boys - and THANK YOU to all of the coaches, trainers and spirit squads!

DID YOU KNOW? The late Robert Richard "Smokey" Holland was a beloved pillar of our district from 1961-1987. He served as head football coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and Head Athletic Director for all junior high schools.

In 1989, Smokey was inducted into the Oklahoma Coaches Association Hall of Fame and recognized for his 32 years of dedication to the hundreds of athletes and coaches he mentored. The annual game became an MPS tradition in 1994, and Holland Bowl City Champ trophies are still awarded in his honor as this event keeps alive his legacy and love for MPS Athletics.

Way to go, MHS Lions, on their swim season opener! The boys took 2nd and the girls took 3rd. Way to start the season off right!

A shoutout to their Official and Gold Sponsors! Thank you, Country Leisure Manufacturing, Moore Laundry, Bleached Salon and Extension Lounge, and Enclave Management Inc. for supporting the swim team.

Jag baseball and softball teams came out to have a little fun and get batty with the WHS Special Olympics team for the 12th consecutive year. Thank you to all who attended to support our team and had a great time with the kids. Jags helping Jags!
