Southgate Parent Involvement Policy
SOUTHGATE-RIPPETOE ELEMENTARY
TITLE I Parental Involvement Policy
2024-2025
Southgate-Rippetoe Elementary has made the commitment to provide a quality education for every child and to establish strong partnerships with parents. Shared responsibility for high student performance, frequent communication, and ongoing parental involvement is an essential component for assuring academic success for our students.
Southgate-Rippetoe Elementary is required to have an annual parent meeting to inform parents of our school’s participation as a Title I site and to explain the rights of parents to be involved with their children's education. All parents will be invited and encouraged to attend our school-wide annual meeting, which will be scheduled for Back to School Night. Southgate-Rippetoe Title I School-wide policies, programs, services, and goals will be addressed, and an informational packet will be sent home with the parents. A description and explanation of the curriculum and PASS standards will be given to parents during enrollment or grade level meetings, and assessments used to monitor student progress in each grade will be offered during parent/teacher conferences, which will be held in October and in March of each school year. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend conferences with their child's teacher, to participate in decisions relating to the education of their child.
A variety of parent involvement meetings will be planned to respond to parent needs and help strengthen the home-school partnership connection. Meetings will be offered at various times to accommodate parent schedules so that each parent has the opportunity for maximum participation.
A School-Parent-Student Compact will be jointly developed with parents and will be utilized, in an effort, to formally recognize the importance of working together as equal partners in the educational process. It is our goal to enable each child to achieve the State's high standards and reach his/her potential.
Communication between parents and teachers will be maintained on a continuing basis throughout the school year. Parents are provided the opportunity and encouraged to attend conferences, receive reports on students' academic progress, and state student assessment results. They will be made aware of school activities and news through Thursday folders, Parent Portal, Title I website, Peach Jar, marquee, handouts, reminder notes, and the school website (http://www.mooreschools.com/southgate/site/)), and the Southgate Facebook page. Through scheduled planned activities, parents will have reasonable access to staff and will be given the opportunity to volunteer, observe, and participate in classroom and parent involvement activities.
Parents, students, staff, and community leaders will be involved in planning, reviewing, and improving the programs and services offered under the Title I School-wide plan. Parents will have an opportunity to present differing views of the district. Needs assessment and program evaluation surveys will be conducted in the spring of each school year and will be utilized in conjunction with academic needs assessments and the spring OSTP, and to guide the revision of the plan for the following year.
